Step rails for 2015 silverado1/14/2024 (The did refund my money, so the only cost was my aggravation) Yes CARiD used illegal tactics and just plain piss-poor business practice to try to extort money from me. Yes, i know this is illegal, and I could have taken them to court, and I explained that to them, but no, I did not follow through. On the day they were supposed to ship, the sent an email telling me that the price had changed and I owed them another $101 before they would ship! I explained to them with no ambiguity what they could do with the steps, and canceled. They withdrew the money from my credit card, and told me they scheduled the shipping. I placed my order, and the total was ~$420 with tax and shipping. There was another source with free shipping, but the price was considerably higher so it was only pennies difference, so i went with the first. But oh what a process to get them! I looked around the internet and the best price I found was $325 plus plus $79 shipping, from CARiD. (Out of state Dealer and lethargic DMV during Covid shutdown) I went with the Iron Cross step tubes, and I like the quality. I wish my AMPS were wheel to wheel.Īfter six weeks, I finally took possession of my Silverado. I have a 2006, and my AMPs are rocker mounted, and my rockers have been worked on twice, and still have enough integrity to support my non-midget size.Īnd yes, wheel to wheel is a great.came in handy many times. But if you have weak rockers from road salt, which for a 2018, shouldn't be that bad, it could be an issue. Mounting wise, they mount either to the rocker panels, or using the cab mounting ssing with cab bolts on a older truck is a bear, and sometimes leaves a snapped bolt, which means drilling in from above through the cab to fix that problem, then still get the bars attached. Take into consideration as well, how wide is the step, and is there a backer to prevent her foot from slipping off in between the truck and the step.that could lead to a very easy broken ankle. You'll get what you pay for, so really, $325 from a name like Iron Cross is pretty good. Those lasted just over a year though, before an end cap came off, and accelerated the rusting from the inside. I live in MA, and my first set of Raptors lasted about 2 years before the rust got bad, but they honored their warranty and sent me a new pair, no questions asked. Raptor makes some ok steps, although they will rust. You can probably get them a bit cheaper, depending on what brand you go with for regular steps. But AMPs actually drop down to a usable level, whereas regular cab/rocker mounted steps are only for look, as they only drop down maybe 3".some will disagree, they are free to do so.
